Rock Star II: Don’t Stop Believing

By sammyj

For those of you who don’t work with the husband of a Journey fan club leader, they have a new singer. And, yep, it’s Rock Star II. Arnel Pineda, lead singer of a Filipino cover band called “The Zoo” is Journey’s new lead singer. Okay, so they didn’t solely cover Journey, but it’s a good story nonetheless. Here he is providing vocals for Neal Schon and crew on one of the greatest songs ever, “Don’t Stop Believing”. Of course, he’s pretty good.  He’s Journey’s third effort at replacing Steve Perry, and has the advantage of not also being named “Steve”.

For 5 points each, name:

–The band whose lead singer’s replacement was the basis for “Rock Star”.

–The lead singer who was replaced (for a time).

–The name (nickname is acceptable) of the guy that replaced him.

–The name of the tribute band that the replacement fronted.

    1) INXS
    2) Michael Hutchence
3 & 4 don’t know and won’t cheat. What did you mean “for a time” though? Hutchence is dead, so did they kick the dude out of the band?

Incorrect. INXS did have that “Rock Star” reality show, but that was based off the movie, which was based off the events in question.

    1) Judas Priest
    2) Rob Halford
    3) Ripper
    4) I have no idea.

The only reason I know this is Halford, Queensryche’s Geoff Tate, and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson were going to do a concert together titled “The Three Tremors” or something like that about 6 years ago. I subsequently looked up Rob Halford’s history.

15 points to Grendel. The name of the band was “British Steel” (classic Priest album).
