There’s a reason they don’t start the heavy exercise right away. The energy levels provided will take some getting used to. I’m exhausted, and I did not have a particularly strenuous day physically. The only time I got seriously hungry was at the end of the day, so I stopped at a grocery store and got some baby carrots and grapes. I was good to go.
My co-workers were not impressed by the smell of me cooking nearly a pound of broccoli in the microwave. I was not impressed with the smell all that broccoli generated in the hours that followed. Oh, how I love it so, though. In my last seriously successful weight loss program, I practically lived off steamed broccoli.
I had the chicken soup shake for breakfast, and two chocolate shakes throughout the day. It works, I suppose, and fortunately, no blender is required. The chili and enchiladas I had for my two meals were as edible as I remembered. Still, all I can think about is a Usinger’s knackwurst or a Fritz’s hot Polish. No sausage for 6 months. Ugh.
The big success for the day was hearing back from the Renaissance Festival confirming that they’re sending out a halftime act for Saturday’s Wizards game. It promises to be quite entertaining, even if it isn’t the ostrich jousting I was hoping for.
I saw my friend Ari (IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0062581/ ) in a movie tonight…”Play On”, filmed here in KC and in Scotland. He was really good; better than the movie, and the movie wasn’t bad or anything. If you’re at all a rugby fan, or at all familiar with the American rugby subculture, you’ll get a kick out of it.
Your music video for the day:
Ian Hunter, David Bowie, Queen and Others doing “All The Young Dudes” at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Bowie at the mic is always a treat, and though he wrote the song (one of my all-time favorites), Ian Hunter owns it. Joe Elliott and Phil Collen are having *way* too much fun singing backup for about half their boyhood heroes on stage at once. Bowie on the sax! This was one of the (two?) non-Queen songs that the surviving members performed (I think), and other than George Michael’s rendition of “Somebody To Love”, it was the highlight of the evening. I think it was also Mick Ronson’s last concert appearance before succumbing to cancer. Enjoy!
